I. Overview

Below is a general guideline for our rules and policies. Be aware, this is not a complete list of our rules and expectations. Following this guide does not prevent you from being removed or disciplined for rules not listed here. These may change at any time with or without notice and you will always be bound by the latest version.

II. UNC Charlotte University Policies

The UNC Charlotte Code of Conduct (CoC) and Academic Integrity Policy (AIP) applies to the club and all club activities. You should be fully aware of the various policies and expectations. In the event that a club rule conflicts with a UNC Charlotte CoC or AIP rule, the CoC or AIP rule will apply.

III. Membership

1. Members


a. Becoming a Member

    The following are requirements to become a member:

  • Currently a UNC Charlotte Student, Alumni, Faculty, or Staff.

    The following are not requirements to become a member:

  • You do not need to currently be an FCC Amateur Radio license holder.

b. Member Removal

    Members will be removed when one of the following occurs:

  • The member voluntarily removes themselves from the club.
  • The member is voted out by 1 advisor and 2 officers or 2 advisors and 1 officer.
  • An authorized university personnel asks for them to be removed in writing.
  • The member breaks a university, club, or regulatory rule that justifies their removal.

2. Officers


a. Purpose

b. Becoming an Officer

    The following are requirements to become an officer:

  • Currently a UNC Charlotte undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Been active in the club for at least one semester.
  • Be able to be an officer for at least one year or two semesters.

    The following are not requirements to become an officer:

  • You do not need to currently be an FCC Amateur Radio license holder.

    The officer will be elected by a majority vote of the attending members.

c. Officer Removal

    The officer will be removed from the officer position when one of the following occurs:

  • The officer voluntarily removes themselves from the officer position or the club.
  • The officer is voted out by 2 advisors, 2 officers, and half the attending members.
  • An authorized university personnel asks for them to be removed in writing.
  • The officer breaks a university, club, or regulatory rule that justifies their removal.

3. Advisors


a. Purpose

  • TBA

b. Becoming an Advisor

    The following are requirements to become an officer:

  • Currently be employed by the university.
  • Be able to dedicate time to the club.

4. Affiliates


a. Purpose

  • An affiliate is someone who has had significant interactions with the club or helped us with equipment or events.
  • Affiliates are not official members and therefore have no voting rights or control over the club and our activities.

b. Becoming an Affiliate

  • There is currently no formal process for becoming an affiliate.

c. Affiliate Removal

  • There is currently no formal process for removing an affiliate.

IV. Repeater

Our repeater is located on the top of the Atkins Library at UNC Charlotte. Anyone holding an FCC Amateur Radio license or an equivalent may use the repeater. All FCC Amateur Radio regulations apply when using the repeater.

V. Discord

1. Joining


    You can join the Discord by:

  • Being a UNC Charlotte student, faculty, or staff with an active NinerNET login and using the process listed here.
  • Sending us an email at [email protected] and asking for an invite.

2. Rules


  • Be respectful to chat members and admins.
  • Do not post disturbing or illegal content.
  • Do not post anything that can be considered NSFW.
  • No spamming or flooding chat.
  • Disputes should be settled via direct message or by contacting a officer.
  • Keep text channels relatively on topic.
